4/30/20 – Coronavirus Update

Fitness Center

As a response to the rapid changes regarding COVID-19 and the directive by the State of California, our fitness center is closed until gyms are given approval to reopen.  We have suspended charges for current gym members on monthly EFT. Once gyms are approved to reopen, please check our website for the latest information about how Physical Edge plans to accommodate our members.

Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Care:

Health care providers are considered essential service providers.  Our intention is to continue to serve patients who need physical therapy and chiropractic care.  All care is 1:1 with our therapists and we have distanced treatment areas throughout the entire facility. All precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of our staff and patients. Our hours for care are now Monday -Friday from 8 am – 12 noon, and afternoons are being added the week of April 27.  Please plan to wear a mask as you enter our facility for care.

Thank you for your understanding. Please stay healthy and safe.

History of Physical Edge:

A Davis Fixture since 2003, Physical Edge has been voted the city’s best provider of physical therapy by readers of The Davis Enterprise.

Formerly located on Lake Boulevard in West Davis, Physical Edge moved to Drew Avenue in South Davis in 2006, bringing its entire staff together and providing owners Mathew and Marianne Moore – Davis residents since childhood – an opportunity to expand their services. Currently, the business comprises six physical therapists, a physical therapy assistant, a chiropractor and fitness staff.

Movement Training Article

“We rehabilitate using a functional movement model.” says Marianne Moore. “The system promotes collaboration between performance and rehabilitation professionals through the use of two tools – the Functional Movement Screen and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment.

“Both tools evaluate movement but are separated by a clear distinct marker. That marker is pain. If movement produces pain, the individual would be sent through SFMA. Is pain is not present, the FMS is the appropriate tool, which is used primarily by personal trainers and strength coaches”

Physical Edge also prides itself on being a teaching facility, working with several universities to provide 12-week clinical  instructions and mentorship programs to physical therapy students.

“We would like to thank our wonderful clients and patients who voted for us and support our business,” Moore says. “We are truly touched and look forward to serving our community for many years to come.”
